So I have essentially no history on this roo!

After the foxening in the spring we decided to get a rooster and we adopted this guy from a local. In our naivety, we didn't realize what we thought was grizzled rooster legs was actually scaly leg mite (some before images). We are in rural Ontario.

Just a head up the pinky white legs are after some diligent SLM treatment so that's not a natural trait (rest of images).

Out of ignorance, I have just been calling him a Maran. As of recently, I think I he is a Denizli Longcrower.

Thoughts?

Very likely to be a barnyard mix. Curious how to rule out a pure if it matches? Is there a standard somewhere / a feature that is indicative of a mix?

They bred and raised chickens for sustenance, so they weren't specifically looking to preserve genetics from what I gathered.

Certainly still on the SLM treatment course with the flock 😬

He is a mix. Looks like he may have mites/lice that may be causing feather loss around his head.

There are associations around the world that uphold standards of perfection for each breed. Depending on where you are located, breeds that may be recongnised where you are may not be recognized elsewhere. Standards vary from place to place.

You can usually find the SOP by searching, for example: 'faverolles chicken standard of perfection'. And the breed SOP can and does vary from country to country.
