i was planning on giving my cockerel to somebody, but they haven’t texted me back and I’m leaving in an hour for a mission trip. The cockerel is in a wire dog cage with the flock currently, as he was supposed to be gone by now. My parents are going to watch him, so should he stay in the cage?? He can’t be with the flock he’s too rough with the girls and we have another rooster already.

Even if it’s for a week?
If that's the only place to keep him, I guess so.
He won't be happy, and it's certainly not ideal, but as long as fed, watered and kept out of the elements(rain and sun) he should be fine.

That was the problem. Too many boys. One would hold the hens head feathers while the other one would hop on, then they would switch places. That's why they went into the cages and are now in my freezer. I'm letting the nicer 3rd one breed them now.

“The rape of pullets “...
We’ve gone too far when we consider the natural actions of an animal to be held to the standards of people. They might be rough but then don’t watch and make sure your flock is large enough to support his needs
Agrees.
It's typical anthropomorphism.
'Rape' is not a term to be applied to animals sexual behaviors.
Domesticated animals should be managed by humans to prevent male competitive behaviors.
