Rooster in the nesting box

This is my Rooster Alfredo. I Introduced hay and golf balls into a training nesting box and he felt a need to sit on them... is this odd behavior or is this usual for a suspected rooster to act in this manner?
 
Maybe he's just enjoying his new "roost". Is the box elevated for some reason? Chickens love to go to high places, and he's just proven himself to be King of the Hill. Bet it won't be near as much fun if placed on the floor. I would place the back against a wall so he doesn't decide to perch on it.

My rooster does that too. I think roos actually like to sit on eggs as well. My roo doesn't make a habit out of it, but if yours does, all the better for him. Ladies man, yes?
