UPDATE: He is walking much better today. However, he still acts confused or like he can’t see. Could the respiratory infection he had have blinded him?! 😭

A week ago my rooster suddenly became ill with a respiratory illness (heavy mucus from nose and mouth). We gave him antibiotics, nutridrench, and used VetRx on him over this past week. That has all cleared up. However, he is not ok! He was off balance and I found a bumble on his foot and removed it. He is still off balance and falls easily. Mostly, he just lays around. He is drinking water but not really eating. He hasn’t crowed in over a week and his comb is dusky on the tips and the back area. He looks confused and acts like he’s listening to something the way he holds his head, but not wry neck. He is 3 years old. Usually very active and stays with his hens. Now he’s just laying down and sleeping. Only walks when we prompt him and doesn’t even acknowledge the hens. Do you have any idea what may be going on?

Clearly he has been very ill. Can you feel his keel bone? He may be starving.
I would offer him some natural yogurt (to help good [essential] bacteria re-colonise his gut; they will have been killed off by the antibiotics) and some tinned sardine; both are easy to eat and nutrient dense, and refused only by birds nearing their end.

I haven’t checked his keel bone. Honestly, I had to look it up to see what that is. I will today though. Am I checking it for injury or are you saying if I can feel it, he’s starving? I will also get him some yogurt and sardines. I did give him probiotics in his water for a couple of days when he got antibiotics.

Poor guy.
Chicken diseases usually don't go away. They don't get 'colds' they get diseases.

Have you had other chickens get snotty like him?

When was the last time you brought any new birds home?

No one else is sick like him. I did get 2 new hens about 2 weeks ago. One of them did have a little clear snot a couple of days ago but it’s gone.
