I have a 6 month old Austrolorp rooster that is getting really ruff with the 6 month old hens. Any suggestions on how to seattle him down. I did not buy him knowingly being a rooster until he grew up.

Any help would possibably save his life

I'm about ready to grab him by the neck and turn him around in circle, since he likes to do it. Thank you.

Sometimes people quarantine a bird to bring it down in pecking order. I don't know if that works with roosters or not. I do remember a story about someone's rooster named Bob going to jail. I don't even remember why, but I assume it was to work on behavior of some kind. Or just keep him away for awhile from people and chickens.

Cook him and give the girls the leftovers.

Nothing like the stew pot to deal with a rough rooster! (Okay, you don't need to follow that advice if you don't want to!)

All of the above......depending on your future intentions.
If you might want to reproduce, keep him in jail, until you see its time for him to get out on good behavior. If he learns a lesson good. If not, keep in jail, until you decide to make soup. You could almost keep him indefinately like that. Just the hens might freak out to see him come over for a visit. Good luck.

Thank you all, soup is what I would like to make, but could never do that. Just talk about it alot. Well, if I got hungry enough I would. He is just a really pretty bird. I'm always for the under dog and can't stand to see something be so hateful to something else. He has just learned to crow and make it sound normal

Jail sounds the best for now thank you again.

Define rough? Exactly what is he doing that you consider too rough. Sometimes people interpret chicken matings as the rooster being rough when in all actuality, it's just the way it is and neither the roo nor the hens give it a second thought. It's just life for them.

Let's not be too hasty! The boys seem to become sexually ready a little earlier than the girls, so the girls are running from him rather than submitting to his advances, making it seem more violent. Think of him as a teenage boy. You won't truly know how he's going to turn out until they're all mature.

Well ruff is where he bits the back of their necks, holds on and they are screaming bloody murder. He gets on their backs and keeps on biting them. I know this is natural maybe for him but I don't like the girls in pain.

I will give him more time since he is very young, I think he is just practicing anyway

Sounds like a typical young cockerel. The girls will scream bloody murder until they get closer to laying age, then it's possible that it can happen right behind you and you won't even know it. Once the girls gets on the same page. The roo will get more practiced too, making things easier for both of them.
