I'm sorry to hear that. do you mean over the past 4 months he would periodically be found on his side and then be roused by a touch. I wonder if it is something like a seizure disorder that finally got the best of him. I know some folks on this forum have sent their deceased chickens to get a necropsy to find out what may have caused the death. I'm not sure if the state agriculture department or the state department of environmental quality provides it.

Welcome to BYC, and sorry for your loss. It could also be possible he had a heart valve going bad or his heart gave out. Did you notice if his comb ever turned blue or black? That would be a possible sign of a heart problem.
