How long will it take for a rooster to regrow tail lost to a predator dog?

Hens and roosters can lose their tail feathers and grow them back as quickly at four weeks, while others will take up to four months.

Why a predator? Did you see? Because in my flock, hens will turn against a roo when hitting them too much and pull tail feathers.

A dog invaded my garden, where my small flock of 4 run free, killed 2 hens and pulled the roosters tail out before I could stop the carnage. They were all rescued pets, so am very upset. I live in the UK
