I was given a rooster last month by someone that thought had two roosters that kept fighting (believe it or not). It was missing feathers on its neck but I assumed that was from the fighting or stress of living with someone that wants him dead. They still haven't grown back and his feathers are looking pretty shabby in general. He's also losing feathers on both wings, but not enough to see the skin.

I hope so, I was just worried because I know nothing about chickens and he could get cold in the winter looking like that. Thanks for the quick response

I don't know anything about skin problems but his skin looks really red, my chickens aren't that red when they molt. Maybe mites? Does he take dust baths? Pretty much a sandbox, but filled with dirt instead of sand, he'll do the rest. Keep us posted on how he's doing please, and good luck.

Molting...its that time of year those are pin feathers and will grow into feather eventually.there really tender right now so avoid touching them.

They are looking to be growing in.

I would add.... If he is housed with the others keep an eye for picking on those tender feathers. Some birds find it very tempting.
