So, my rooster is a master escape artist, and I can never keep him in the backyard. Recently he's been finding ways to get over the 6.5ft fence around our yard, and he isn't protected from anything when he's in the front.

I know if you clip a male parrots wings he cannot breed because of lack of balance. Is this the case with roosters as well? I'm hoping he will breed my girls soon, so I don't want to jeopardize our chick chances.

That's a good question, because you're right, they use their wings to balance themselves on the female's back. I'm interested in the answers you get!

Chickens do not mate in flight.
Yeah, that's not what I was implying. I don't think any birds mate in flight. Parrots cant breed if the wings of the male are clipped because they need to stay balanced on the female. I was wondering if balance would be a problem for my rooster if i cut his wing

Was this meant to be a joke?
I'm sure it was...not a great one.... but it made me chuckle.

Clipping wings will probably not affect his mating balance,
but it also may not keep him on the right side of the fence.
