I've had a good number of roosters in my life. One of my past roos and current are not 'gentlemen'. I think it's because i babied him too much.
Any one else have rude roosters?

I have several cockerel's atm, but I do have 2 roosters. 1 of them over mates all the poor females, and 1 is the sweetest thing ever.I've had a good number of roosters in my life. Let me re-word this: Not a gentleman and rude bc he doesn't share treats or show the hens where the good stuff is. He is very sweet and doesn't attack.I've had a good number of roosters in my life. Yes my current one is. My past one was 2 or 3 yrs old. had some hens but didn't mate much and he took their treats and food and sometimes pecked them if they got too close to where he was eating. He wasn't the bottom rooster so don't think its a bulling thingOhhh. Hahaha. Well, thats almost worse. His poor girls! My Dundee tidbits all day long and every time a hen sings the egg song he runs to her like his tail is on fire to escort her to wherever the flock is free-ranging. Its honestly hilarious.
Is yours maybe just a bit young and he needs to grow into his instincts? I wouldn't even know what to do with a roo that didn't know how to roo.![]()
My favorite on that, is my cockerel hopping in the nest first to make her bed to her liking. Ten minutes of conversation going on in there, before she even gets in the nest. Once he has a whole flock, I'm going to need to pack him a lunch so he doesn't starve while dealing with egg laying.Ohhh. Hahaha. Well, thats almost worse. His poor girls!
