I'm posting from mobile and it won't let me post the long, detailed post I was going to make... Basically, I rescued this chicken from an abusive home today. It's supposedly four months old but the lady said she isn't sure, she knows absolutely nothing about chickens. It hasn't crowed, and has little bumps on its leg, but no actual spurs. From my understanding hens can have these. It doesn't stand tall like a rooster. Could you kind folks tell me if it looks like a pullet or cockerel, and it's breed if you can tell? I can post more pics later from my computer.

Not really sure on breed but it looks to be a hen.
I am thinking white rock or possibly white breese. (hoping it is 4 months old so it is not a Cornish Cross meat bird) Those are some thick legs.
Any aprox on its weight?

I'll weigh the chicken first chance I get, I would estimate 5 lbs. legs are really thick; she resembles a Cornish I raised before who died of a heart attack at 6 months because she just wouldn't stop gaining weight.

Thank you!

Anyone else agree the chicken might be a hen? I need to know for sure... If it's a rooster I can't keep it.

It is DEFINITELY a cockerel because at only four months old a hen would never have such a large, red comb. It is either a Cornish cross meat bird or a White Plymouth Rock.

Thank you everyone for the replies... Unfortunately the chicken, who I had called Skye, was killed this evening... Something broke in the pen and ate more than half of him/her, and I'm heartbroken. The same thing happened to my last Rock chicken. It's never gotten any of my bantams which confuses me. I'd like to kill the predator animal myself if I ever get my hands on it. I gave Skye a funeral and buried what was left, as I feel terrible... I rescued him/her from an abusive home and thought I was going to give them a better life... :(
