My australorp rooster is about 6-7 months old now and he is huge
Breed doesn't necessarily matter on temperament, even if one breed of chicken is said to be friendly, docile, and loves to be held it truly depends on the owner of the chicken ( like if he/she interacts or plays with their chickens) or sometimes it's just the chicken. I have heard of some Cochin roosters being nice and gentle with the hens and others... not so much.Is he sweet..we do want a rooster. Does the cochin roo tend to be nice..the hen is sweet as can be.
As a chick, Oliver was active and a friendly one(he was sexed as a female). When he was 4 months old, he was sweet with his small flock of 2 and wasn't mean toward us, but he was a pain to catch. He was the largest chicken but still stayed clear of the much older pullets, who were smaller. We can't have a rooster(we can't have chickens at all but haven't been told again in months) so we rehomed him once he started crowing which he was 4 months old. We sure do miss him.Is he sweet..we do want a rooster. Does the cochin roo tend to be nice..the hen is sweet as can be.
Handsome fella! I wish we could've kept Oliver, but the guy who bought him promised he would have a good home. Maybe he will be a show bird!
Breed generally doesn't matter as long as you handle them right and are kind to them they tend to be niceIs he sweet..we do want a rooster. Does the cochin roo tend to be nice..the hen is sweet as can be.
