Peanut was sold to us as a female, but we are beginning to wonder they made a mistake! She/he is 17 weeks but has not crowed. We all think think she is looking more rooster-like. Opinions?? I can take differen't pics/videos if helpful.

AgreedUnfortunately that looks to be a rooster!
yes. its normally between 4 and 5 months so he might start crowing in just a few weeks. There are a ton of awesome chicken owners on here so you could post in your state thread looking for a good home for him. I hope everything works out. There are some chicken sanctuaries but I don't know if you have any near you.Shouldn't he have crowed by now??
If you don't mind, you could eat him. If he's your little baby birdie and you have issues with eating him, I suggest posting him in a local animal re homing or selling forum.Peanut was sold to us as a female, but we are beginning to wonder they made a mistake! this is from experience btw, last spring/ summer I had nine of the things, so I posted in a local Facebook group and was able to give 8 of them to a small family owned hatchery. Kept the last one for breeding and flock dynamic reasons. If you don't mind, you could eat him. That is unfortunately as many people have said a cockerel. Rooster is the term for males over a year old, cockrel is younger, same goes for hen and pullet.Peanut was sold to us as a female, but we are beginning to wonder they made a mistake!
