rooster or hen? Wyandotte

Shouldn't he have crowed by now??
Each is an individual and there's no set age for when crowing will start.. I've seen it as early as 3 weeks and as late as 18 months.

I can confirm by saddle feathers that is a cockerel.

Rehoming on your local craigslist farm and garden section might be a possibility.. if you don't mind but don't want to know that they will be gracing someones dinner table, make that clear. Many of us who harvest cockerels do so as humanely as possible.. and Wyandottes make for tasty table birds. Best wishes finding a pet home if that's important to you! :fl

Peanut was sold to us as a female, but we are beginning to wonder they made a mistake! She/he is 17 weeks but has not crowed. We all think think she is looking more rooster-like. Opinions?? I can take differen't pics/videos if helpful.
That’s a boy, saddles & sickles are coming in, and the hackles are thin and pointy.Hes beautiful tho! ❤️

Agreed! She just said she was meant to have a female!
Yeah, it misfires a lot with chicks and we have to be prepared for that. Sexing babies is as good as it gets. So if you cant have roosters you gotta have a plan.

I can have roosters, and I find they are by far less noisy than my hens. So this always frustrates me. Additionally my rooster is just like a puppy dog. Ya know he alarm crows and I love that.

Just my personal experience w getting an accidental australorp rooster, he was practicing his crowing by 10 weeks. He is 14weeks now and almost has it down but he has been VERY obviously a male for quite awhile. I do have female australorps so am able to compare and he is quite bigger, more decorative feathers, ect. I wouldn't give up on your chicken just yet...

No, that is definitely a cockrel that they have shown, male specific pointy Hacke and saddle feathers , as well as male coloring for a Wyandotte, and large red comb and wattles.
