Chirping
Ralph Macchio, our former head Roo, is recovering from a cockfight from his progeny of last year. That is not relevant, other than the fact that having Ralph isolated has given me more time with him during his convalescence. I am holding him more frequently, so I'm noticing things about him that I hadn't before.
Pictures here show what looks to be dirt... but I can't tell if he's simply that bad at hygiene or if he has something else going on. Nothing is moving along his feathers or skin. All of this stuff just seems stuck.
NOTE: About a month ago, we did a full coop cleanout and immersion dip of every bird into Elector PSP solution. We felt the money was worth it. When dipping this rooster, I also noticed the dirt and just assumed his feathers simply retain a lot of dirt. No other bird was even close to as dirty as this bird.
Note also that his under-feathers are super, super soft and fluffy. If I could make a blanket out of these feathers, it would be amazing. And they are THICK. Like fur. He almost feels furry down there.
So, is his anatomy such that he simply holds a LOT of dirt in his feathers? Is that a possibility?
