Rooster questions

It depends on what breed they are. I have 4 young roosters that I will harvest. Two of them look almost big enough to be fryers now at 9 weeks old. I may give them another week or 2 to make sure. Most of the time they are ready by 3 to 4 months.

Thanks for the kind words red ranch! :) These roosters (cockerels?) are giving me fits! They are 10 weeks old and I was supposed to only have two, and now I find out I have 5... And to make matters crazier, I have two 10-week old roosters trying to mount my pullets already!! And they are very aggressive with them! But Poli has not done this. He crows but he is very gentle and attentive to the hens. So, we just may be culling 4 roosters this weekend. They are in separate pens now. Do you have any idea the best age for culling roosters for the dinner table? Is 10-weeks old too young? Thanks again for your help!
I applaud you for being able to turn them into dinner. Many people can't. Those that are making troubles that young always go to the freezer here too. The keepers are more respectful.

Thanks to everyone here for your help with my rooster problem! My Hubby and I have finally got our rooster problem under control and our Poli is doing great! His wonderful crown is on the mend! We have culled 4 roosters from the group and suspect 2 more. I did not order a "straight run" of chickens either but the hatchery would only guarantee 90% accuracy. I made the mistake of ordering two roosters because I thought I would receive 25 hens. :(

But this is all a learning experience and this site has been a GodSend for us! I sailed through the pasty-butt episode when the new chicks arrived because I came here for info, and I never lost a chick! Thanks so much for all your help! :love
