Rooster Spurs

I am new to the breeding to show Standard, so please excuse if this is a dumb question.
I have just received my copy of the APA standard book of perfection, while looking at the great photos I notice no rooster has spurs ?
Why is this, is there a age limit ?

Well... I haven't read the book yet, but yes I think at a certain age they will develop spurs.
How old are they in the book?

And don't worry, your question isn't dumb.
I am not new to raising chickens and I have so many questions like yours!
