Rooster struck at husband, now me. What can I do?

Always have children around my place so NO aggresive roosters allowed.
Nasty roosters dont last one day here, no excuses, no second chances, no forgiveness.
Off to boot hill they go.
Even if i dont have any kids and its just me...same story. Why let a bad acting rooster wreck your happy chicken tending experience? Ile pick up any hen or rooster whenever i please.
(I always do this after dark anyway, no problems.)
Like others have said, there are plenty of good behaving rooster to choose from.
People think since they raised him from a chick it holds some bearing on his behavior. Not so. Is the 2 day old calf the same animal as when he is a 4 year old bull?
Would you behave equally the same aroud both age groups?
To many people have let a nasty rooster situation get so far out of hand that they sware off chickens all together.
Its sad 😔

Sorry I never read all the other replies. Carry a stick and get his feet moving a good 6 foot distance from your space. He probably is fine and just protecting his Hens. Seriously never hand feed him or think he is sweet because he isn't. He's a male Chicken. I'm sure if you begin to treat him with respect he will follow.
Post a video showing how you "pet" your rooster. I am betting your "petting" action looks to the rooster like someone trying to assert dominance over him and he is saying up yours.

I never try to pet him anymore, that was my husband's idea and therefore his fault! I'm mad at him now for bringing out the monster, lol

It isn't random,it just seems that way.
When males reach an age where they are physically ready to be a rooster the way they react to nearly everything changes.
Pats become challenges, treats become submissions, ankles become the girl next door.
The hardest part for most people is that it is very rarely gradual.:)
What made him randomly start doing this?I have been nothing but gentle with them and they always associate me with food/treats, I just dont get it and I don't want to get scared of him

Honestly take his behaviour seriously.! Get him moving out of your space and never turn your back to him.
I have a repsectful Rooster and still follow all rules with him. Daily we show respect to each other as I enter his property.

Are you talking about my rooster or my husband? 6ft stick space and never turning my back, etc! :bun

not his fault...your rooster has gone bad. ....alot of them do.
Some roosters are just power tripping idiots in my opinion. And need to be culled.
Your husband however is probably a keeper.
I am currently loosing my husband to cancer and would give anything to have the time back that i spent mad at him for this trivial thing or that absolute meaningless nothing.
Focus on the stuff that matters.
