We love our rooster Fancy. I noticed that he was laying down more than normal. We usually let them out and roam as much as possible but we have a hawk problem. We have another rooster (bantam) that Fancy fights with through the fence when Fancy is free range or I like to call it grazing. We think he injured his foot and got bumblefoot. There was a noticeable black scab on the pad. We did the epson salt soak, Prid and wrapped it. The next day we got the bumble out. That was on Tuesday. We put triple antibiotic on it without pain relief and rewrapped it. The swelling where the bumble was looks better today and has went down. He will not bend his toes or put pressure on that leg and that worries me. He won't walk but a couple of steps a day and lays down the whole day. We are on day 3 of 1/4 cc Penicillin. He is very spunky and is eating, drinking and pooping. We just want him back to normal. Am I just being impatient with the healing time?

Over look the BluKote this is where the bumble was. And one of him semi-standing when we put him in the pen. He took two steps and sit down. His scales on his legs are raising up so we washed his legs today and scrubbed with a toothbrush then coated them with Vaseline.

Thats no bad at all! You are doing great, The first thing I would do is look at this article which will show you a non surgical way to remove the plug! Removing the plug will promote healing, but if you don't get the plug out using this method, then just spray Vetrycin and apply neosporin or calendula oil if possibles and that will loosen the plug enough in a few days so you can pick it out with your finger nails and have little blood. Keep up the good work, Avery

Thank you. Is him not bending his toes and not walking normal with bumblefoot?

Could you post a video of him walking, that is defently bumblefoot, he may just be a very sensitive chicken. Sometimes chickens are very sensitive to bumble foot and don't take the pain as well and will limp or walk funny when they don't have a bad case. My barred rock girl was twice as bad as this and she still recovered!

I really appreciate all your help. We just want him better. He is in this pen while his girls are free ranging. This is the most he has walked. Yesterday I'm sure he took less than 20 steps all day. I check on him often.

It would not let me post a video by the "attach files"so I hope this way works.

Could this be a bumble on top of his foot? Over look all the Blu Kote. The back of his ankle is swollen also. The swelling today is worst than yesterday. The swelling and/or bandage has removed all of his scales. The bottom of his foot still looks fine.
