Rooster taken 6-7am

i let my rooster out on way to work and have done so for 2 years. This morning was his last. I feel terrible but wondered what would make such a trail of feathers into field where it just disappeared. No sign of bones just blood/feathers. I have seen a fox during the day close by since my neighbor has 12 hens and a roo. Ideas??

Yes but they stay in coop. Im going to use trail cam now
