rooster that's supposed to be a hen?!

We're glad you joined us!

Your bird appears to be an Ancona or Exchequer Leghorn pullet. The gigantic comb is common in both the roosters and hens of that breed.

Thank you everyone for the responses!! Here is a better pic of her :) I do get lots of white eggs and wasn't able to figure out which one of my babies are laying them!

I've never seen a comb like that before- very interesting bird.

I can't see the picture real well, but that doesn't look like a single comb to me, unless it is flopped over. Darn phone pictures!
The comb is a single comb that's flopped over. It just happens to look strange because of the angle at which it was caught in the photo. I had to look twice at it myself after enlarging the pic. :o)

Lovely girl you have there. There are several single combed breeds that cause this sort of panic as people are caught off-guard by the large combs of the females. While I understand you bought sexed birds, there *is* a 5-10% "oops" rate to be expected in sexed chicks (with the exception of sex linked hybrids or auto-sexing breeds) so it was possible you would have ended up with a cockerel or two in the batch you bought - just glad that for this bird that is not the case....just something to keep in mind with future batches you might start as "sexed pullets" can still have a surprise or two for you.
