Rooster Thread

This is Jasper, an Old English Game Bantam/Dutch Bantam hybrid. He is the rooster for the Gemstone Flock. He originally had three hens: Topaz the Golden-Laced Sebright, Quartz the Silver-Laced Sebright, and Ruby the Rhode Island Red Bantam. Topaz passed away, and he only has two hens now. But Jasper has proven to be one of my best roosters. He is very flighty, hates human interaction, and attacks me, but he is great to his hens. Jasper rarely mates with them, making him a wonderful fit for only two hens.

Aw, too bad. Have you thought about getting another?

He is pretty! Look at that sheen!

The one in the second picture looks so much like Phoenix! Are you sure you do not have his brother?!
No, not allowed the boys here. Most of our neighbors heard him, but luckily didn’t know where he was to turn us in. The neighbor that did know didn’t mind him and got eggs 🙂

He's gorgeous!

I am not sure if anyone has started a thread similar to this one already, but here is my own rooster thread! This is where everyone shares pictures and stories of their roosters. I love male chickens because of their hilarious antics and the surprise they can bring you (which can sometimes be bad surprise, but let us focus on the good surprise). Post away about your cockerels/roosters!
I am looking to give away Roosters! My township doesnt allow them - if anyone is within reasonable distance I would love to give them away or trade for a hen (2 for 1). I have one pleasant Rooster and One who lets you know he's in charge (he is pleasant but has a need to jump on your back or shoulders (to be taller than you i suppose). They are bother very beautiful. and I am sorry for placing this here (sort of at a loss if I can not give them away. They hatched May 1st they are approaching 3 months.

Elvis, an Nn mix. He and his favorite girl went to my son’s place a few weeks ago. The rest of my girls didn’t like him so I traded for a few ducks. He’s very human friendly, he was showing me the nice bugs he found around the aloe. I miss him, but I hope the new roo is nicer to the rest of the flock. Elvis seemed content with just one girl most of the time.

His son Phoenix, the black cockerel on the right, is our new roo.

One of my cockerels does the same thing! He is human-friendly to the point that he thinks I am a hen and he needs to treat me like a hen. 🤦‍♀️

Phoenix is so cute! I see Phoenix must be a popular name for male chickens, LOL.
