So I have been in the chicken keeping world for about a year now and I have started to breed my silkies

I have 1 roo, 2 hens and 4 chicks

Im certain that 2 chicks are roo and the other are hens

I am wondering if that 4 hens and 3 roosters will add up, im certain not but I wanna hear your thought on keeping 4 hens and 1 roo and 2 baby roos together

I would not keep a 3:4 ratio. Im pretty sure the hens would be over mated and the roosters would fight, but it really depends on the rooster.

I think that a 1:6 ratio is ok for silkies, but I have a 1:7 ratio. (If both of mine turn out to be roos)

I wouldn't risk it. Pairs and trios are fine if each one is housed seperately, but it's extremely unlikely to work in one flock since each male will try to have all the females as his

I have:

1 White Silkie Rooster

1 Partridge Silkie Rooster

1 Blue Partridge Silkie Rooster

1 Black Silkie Rooster

In one coop with:

5 White Silkie Hens

2 Blue Partridge Silkie Pullets

So I have, 4 Silkie roosters for 7 hens/pullets.

I'm only counting the purebred Silkies.

But if I were counting the silkie mixes, there would be: 1 Silkie mix rooster, & 2 Silkie Mix hens.

Which would bring the total to 5 boys, & 9 girls.
