Rooster tore spur off

My daughters beloved rooster tore his spur off yesterday. It looked like it tore off the spur and a little peice of the flesh underneath. It bled alot, but we put a little pressure on it to stop the bleeding after cleaning it and put blue-kote on it. Today it looks like the fleshy part is bigger, like bubbled up. We are worried it will affect it being able to grow back without any issues. Any suggestions.

He is 9 months old and we ended up taking him to the vet. My daughter was so worried and upset. They gave him pain medicine and antibiotics. The first picture is yesterday night when it happened and the second is from this morning.
