Rooster Um "problem"

This is a question rather than an answer to the roo problem.
Our roo is about two years old - a mixed breed banty of sorts. He is normally non aggressive and crows during 'normal' crowing hours. Yesterday he got aggressive towards our dog. Today he has gotten aggressive all day towards my husband. And he seems to have his crow record stuck. Just keeps crowing.
If this behavior comes on suddenly as it has, has the roo lost it or will he snap out of it do you think??? He is a pet and his henmate will be lost without him...
Any advice other than the stewpot?
