Rooster vs Hawk

The right game rooster will bat hawks out of the sky and dispatch them in short order. Also very gentlemanly towards the hens and the person that feeds them. Run you a hundred bucks a pop, expensive to find out that they weren't quite ready for hawk detail, but the bright side is they will last ten or fifteen years at least. Another downside, like the Highlander, there can only be one.

Mine has alerted for both overhead predators and raccoons in the middle of the night. He sounds the alarm at 3am and both my GSD and myself are out there. He is quiet once we get out there. It's quite the team effort. He also will crow of talk loudly if the girls are doing something he don't like(like escaping). If he gets agitated enough he will find me and talk directly to me--it's like he knows I will fix it. If I want to handle the girls just to handle them, he is locked up. I know that he will let me know that is a no no
