Rooster was following around making this sound. What does it mean?

My rooster Rowdy was following me around yesterday and making this sound. What was he trying to communicate?

He recently lost his brother Pinky to a predator 3-4 days ago while I was away on work. I went back to the farm yesterday, and he ran towards me and followed me around while making this sound. Is he mourning?

Pinky and Rowdy were rescued coloured chicks. They were raised together and were together ever since.

I don't think that noise is unusual. Usually my flock does this when they want something (a treat or am digging in the garden and they are helping) or I have a treat in the bucket and walking to them.

This soundsure is similar to one he makes when I carry treats or food, but is jot exactly the same
