Rooster with Ear Wax!

So glad to see this on here! I was petting my rooster today, Peck and he smelled funny so I did some looking around and found both of his ears filled with wax. At least that's what I thought and coming on here helped to determine my common sense was correct. I cleaned them both out with q-tips and peroxide. Hopefully this will do the trick. I put a drop of Silver Hydrosol in each ear, too. Hopefully that's the end of that. The three hens are fine.

Hi Everyone!

I'm interested to hear how everyone's "ear-wax" roosters went, health-wise.

I just found the same thing with one of our roosters. He had both ears entirely plugged up with foul smelling goop & hard wax (I think). I carefully cleared them out (which he enjoyed - I tried to wrap him an a towel, but he's a big, struggly boy and I didn't quite get it right - it didn't matter, as soon as I went near his ears, he just nestled down in my lap for treatment). I stopped short of putting hydrogen peroxide into his ears (as I saw recommended on another thread).

I put him back in his yard and he literally jumped for joy. He's talking and clucking and running around, ten times more active than I've ever seen him (we only rescued him a few months ago). I will check him again tonight, to see how the smell is going. I'm just thinking he probably needs a trip to the vet for some antibiotics. I wonder if the other birds mention on this thread ended up needing antibiotic reatment?

Cheers all!
