Rooster with short tail feathers??

Curious if anyone has any insight. My RIR is about 8 months old and very healthy with no issues as far as I can see. The only weird thing I’ve noticed about him is his tail feathers. Instead of having the long, flowing tail feathers that my roos have had in the past, this guys feathers are just short. They’re not broken or anything and he’s not molting. They’ve just always been like that. I’m not planning on showing him so it’s not a huge deal, I just find it odd. I wondered if he might be mixed with some other breed possibly...maybe he’s a late bloomer or just didn’t come from the best genetic line? I did get him from the bin at the local TSC, whereas my other two roos I had previously were Ameracauna’s from Cackle Hatchery. Curious as to what you guys think??

I am not sure why his tail feathers are short, but I just want to say that he is gorgeous!

Pretty! I think he is just not bred for show.

He's a handsome guy! His sickle feathers may just be slow to come in. I had some BCM roos that took at least that long to grow them in...but they did come in.

Is kinda odd plumage...his back looks a bit short and saddle feathers are spread pretty far forward.

Your roo is beautiful! I also have a rooster with short feathers. He's gorgeous and he's big but kind of looks like a hen. I am so sure he's not though. LOL a friend just showed up and gave them to me one day, gave me no background but he does excellent job taking care of his girls.
