I absolutely agree. I understand being a bit rough in self-defense if you actually are fearful of getting injured, but never actually hurt the rooster! Cheeto exclusively bites feet on rare occasions and never flogs. He stops when you reach down to him or pick him up, so he's definitely not a danger in any way. After we're sure it's an injury and not anything respiratory, we plan on reporting the subcontractors to the company who hires them over this. It's just not right to harm any animal, especially someone's petWow he does look noticeably better. For his health, being hit in the face may be the most ideal situation because at least he isn't sick and at least now we can see improvement. However, I would be horribly upset if someone hurt any of my chickens. I have a rooster, Fancy Feet, and unfortunately he WILL flog. Even so, my roommate kicked him after he flogged her and I was very upset that she kicked him. I've kicked -at- him, but as mean as he is, I don't want to cause him any harm. He only acts that way because he's the bottom rooster.
Sounds like your boy isn't a fan of the color pinkHe could have run at the worker, and that is how some people have reacted to roosters. I have only had a rooster go after strangers who were house setting and wore crazy clothes (pink chenille robe, LOL.) Most roosters are protective of their hens and workers can really upset them. It is probably best to put them up when workers are around.
However, tick bites can sometimes cause extreme swelling and blue bruising from the blood thinner released by the tick. So glad that he is improving.
No, it isn’t. But I do agree with @Eggcessive that it is probably best to lock him up. I thought for the longest time my roommate was exaggerating that my rooster was going after her because he never went after me. Then one day he did.I absolutely agree. Yes! He definitely has a beetle brow lol! Always looks like he's upset about somethingOh man, I’m so sorry your roo got injured! If he got kicked, and it seems highly likely, then that’s horrific. No excuse for that behavior! I am so glad to see he’s doing better!
Does he normally have that “I’m not mad, just disappointed” expression, or is it from swelling? Either way, I love his heavy lidded judgey look![]()
