Rooster??

Starting to wonder if this RIR is a rooster, about 3 months old. I got the one on the right at the same time. Huge crown and waddles. When do saddle feathers usually come in?

Yep, he's male.
Usually around 3 months. He already has some.

With the census being its a cockerel does anyone know if RIR cockerels are generally friendl? I wouldn't mind having a cockerel around but I have two small kids who love catching their chickens and a mean chicken will quickly become chicken pot pie.

I have heard RIR can be quite aggressive - not to humans but to other birds.
Each bird is an individual, so it's really wait and see.
