Strange day today. My rooster is always so nice and lets me do whatever and follows me around, eats treats from my hands, etc. Well today I let them out to free range and he was acting like I was a threat. And then he started crowing when my bf came out there. He was just on edge for some reason today. The only thing I can think of is I drove my car out to the barn to unload feed out the back so it was parked out there. Was he just afraid of my car being out there when it’s normally not?

I hope he doesn’t make this a habit cause a mean rooster is the last thing I want. He’s normally so nice and docile. He’s 7 months old so he’s reached maturity, I figured if he was gonna be mean he would have been already.

He's full grown, yes, but not mature. Right now his hormones are flooding like crazy. It's actually a critical time when one will know if a rooster will turn out good or not. Even if your car was parked in a strange place, it's no excuse for your rooster to act different or attack you. Please be on your guard. He should always be respectful of you and give you your space.

Ugh I hope this doesn’t turn into a regular thing cause I had to put my foot up to him twice cause he wanted to go after me. It’s just strange cause he’s always been so nice. He will have to go if he keeps acting this way 😭

I understand. I had a beautiful Easter egger cockerel that I wanted to keep but he had to go because he went after my kids. 😕
It's never a fun thing to deal with.

It could just be a phase and he will settle down, or not.
I have found that chasing them helps, but some people say anything like that makes them worse. I think its just down to the individual.

I just went out to the coop to shut their door cause it’s rainy cold here and he was fine with me in the coop like normal. I just let him free range yesterday and he was totally cool with me! I think me pulling the car up and getting out of it and carrying stuff just had him on edge for some reason. Cause he was acting totally weird. Like high alert and normally he’s pretty chill. We’ll see how this weekend goes letting them free range like usual.

Maybe he's a watch rooster, and that you were a burglar!
