Rooster

Hello, I'm new to the chicken raising. I have six hens that are about six weeks old. I was told today that i needed a rooster to get the hens to start laying eggs. Is this true?

Nope. Hens lay eggs with or WITHOUT a rooster's help.

No.... You only need a rooster if you want ferile eggs.

They said that rooster needed to do his deed to make them want to lay eggs. So i got a little worried.
