Is it normal for roosters to stop mating during the fall/winter months? I'm kinda bummed mine isn't mounting the hens bc I was wanting to hatch some more chicks!
Most of the time, it's not the cocks but instead the hens. Most breeds stop laying during this time, and as a result the hens won't let the cocks top them. If however the hen is still laying, I'd assume he's probably still mounting them, maybe not often (Especially when you are around) but I would be willing to bet he is probably still topping them. My hens aren't laying, but the cocks will still try to mount them occasionally to no success.
