Roosters biting the hens

We are having issues with the roosters biting the back of the hens necks and digging in on their backs. I have 2 americana roosters and 20 hens. The roosters and all of the hens except 2 are a little over a year old.

Sounds like your roosters are mating with your hens. That is how they mate, the rooster jumps on their back and grabs ahold of the feathers on the back of their head. If the hens are getting bare backs you could make them some chicken saddles.

If he's rough or clumsy about it or mates a hen too often, the hen can get bare-backed and bald-headed. Chicken saddles can take care of the bald back issue, but there's not much you can do for bald heads.

Sounds like (as my 8 yr old daughter says) he's doing his chicken dance
