Thank you to anyone who can help me with these two. Bossy and Gemma are approximately 19 weeks old. I purchased them at 8 weeks from a local feed store. This morning Bossy woke me up complaining because I had not opened the pen yet. It was shortly after dawn. I put on my shoes and ran outside to let them out. Everything was fine for a couple of hours then I heard bossy yelling again. I ran outside and she was standing straight up making a sort of yelling/crowing noise. Didn't sound like the roosters I knew growing up. I noticed she was eyeing something in the tree and darned if there wasn't a hawk. The other three hens were under the shrub. Once I scared the hawk off she was fine. Haven't heard anything other than normal conversation between all four of them since. Bossy only has one large wattle and her comb flops over. She's named Bossy because she jumped out as head chicken in the beginning. They don't have any bad arguments but I do see Bossy and Gemma run at each other and fluff their neck feathers out. They jump a couple of times then go eat bugs and grass. Will you guys let me know if you think they are roosters or if I should take her and Gemma to the vet to be sure? Thanks a bunch!
