Just for fun,I thought you might like to know where the name "kangaroo" came from. When the first white people in Australia saw the kangaroo for the first time they wanted to ask the Abo people "What is that?"......the Abo people replied that they did not understand the question by replying in their own language....."Kangaroo",,,,,Which litterally meant, "I do not understand"...and a new English word was born!

I would ike to amend my poor use of wording in reference to the people who were the first inhabitants of Australia. I used the word "Abo" which is very offensive to them.I now know that I should have used the word "Koori" to be more respecrful.(Thanks to my new Australian friend,Michael.)

Good for you. It is not possible to know what another culture might find offensive especially if you live half a world away. Australian aborigines are proud of their heritage and far better suited to this hot sunny climate than my inherited Scottish skin will ever be.
