Hi there.
We are new to having chooks and new to this site as well. I'm Lorraine from Perth Australia.
Anyway we have some sussex chooks approx 24 weeks old so we were told. Anyway no eggs at all. Not 1.
We have other chooks as well. Which also haven't laid an egg.
But we r now thinking some of the sussex could be roosters. How can we tell? Can someone pls help?
I'll try and upload a pic which may help.
Thanku for ur advice. :))

you see the yellow/ orange feathers by his tail those are saddle feathers only roosters get them. They are long, thin, pointed on the end and shinny. The white feathers on his neck are the same shape. On a hen they are small, fat and rounded on the end
hope this helps

Thanku for that. I have heard of saddle feathers but never knew what they were. Lol
But yes I can see them in ur pic. Thanku.
I have a couple of the sussex that fight and all their neck feathers go up. Does this sound like what roosters will do?
