Good day to all. I have recently acquired a little flock of 5 chickens: one Lakenfelder rooster, his hen, one RIR hen and two Sebright hens... Things are changing daily, and I find myself more confused with every day that goes by about what I actually have in my little flock! My RIR hen started crowing a few days ago... so I am obviously now thinking she's rooster! She also shows signs of bluish feathers in her neck and tail. But what is confusing me is that she, at five months, don't show any of the more obvious longer rooster feathers?? Please confirm... is Henny Penny a Harry!! And to make matters worse I have come to the conclusion that my one Sebright hen 'Bitsy' is most probably a rooster too! This I am saying because of his very beautiful rose-comb he has developed. I am now also quite suspicious of Sebright hen nr. 2 'Itsy'... So would appreciate any comments on both of them. If all three of them turn out to be roosters... 'oh boy!'... that would mean I have four rooster and one hen! I wouldn't mind, but I think 'Lettie' the Lakenfelder hen and and 'Klaas' the rooster definitely would. Not to mention my neightbours!!
