Rooster's severely infected shanks! What should I do?

I use DE I think more for my own piece of mind but have had mite outbreaks even while using DE. You are right to not use as a treatment and only a preventative. I do believe it kept the fly population down though.

You mean new pictures right? I don't have my camera right now but I'll use another camera. The pictures might not come out so clear.
I didn't know you could peel off old ones off. I will go check on his legs right now and see if I can remove any loose scales. Thanks, this is good information.

He hasn't called yet.
He is doing a lot better than before; no mites are present on his body anymore. Although, he still has problems walking during his free time outside of the coop. When I went to pick him up today he didn't fuss at all. I think he knows that I helped him get rid of those mites.

Hey everyone, Denice is doing relatively well. I haven't been able to keep you updated recently because my internet connection was not paid. I'm using my neighbor's wifi connection to write from my converted iPod. I have to go outside in the front of his house to get the strong connection. I'm out here right now. It's raining today so I wont be on until tomorrow. Now, about Denice. Since it's taking me a long time to find the proper medication and supportive help; I'm going to take him to the animal hospital so we can get immediate help from a vet. I'm going to pay the exam fee and my father is going to pay for his treatment.
Also, I've been giving Denice medicated chick starter feed. Do you think this will help him boost his system?

No, that won't do anything. The meds in the food are for intestinal issues (cocci), better off not to do that now.
He still needs antibiotic cream on his legs, Neosporin, bacitracin, generic is fine.
