Rooster's top beak is too long?

I don't know if this is the right thread category so forgive me! The top part of my rooster's beak seems too long, but I don't know. He's an Australorp and is also really lightweight so this made me wonder if it is harder for him to pick up pellets and eat them. What do you all think? See pic!

Yes, it could be. It also looks like it would dig in if he mounts a bird and hangs on behind her comb.

I have never done it, but I know others have. A rasp or clippers could probably solve your problem. I am hoping they chime in.
Thank you for the quick reply. I had a guinea hen with a beak like that and I was able to trim hers. I might just try using a file for him and seeing if that works.
 
A rough nail file should work fine, or clip the very tip with dog/cat nail trimmers and then file back from there if you want to go a bit faster. Be sure to avoid the quick, even if it means the beak remains a bit long.
