Roosters

I have two many roosters as well and i have 8hens an to pullet chicks inside right now. But yes the roo i was talking about does the same thing like never crows. But he was last night since hes in my basement for now. And i have another that mates but doesnt crow. My daddy roo of the 3 does peck an bite them when they are on his hens but mine rarely fight. They get off when daddy comes around. But if youe other rooster is mating an your gettinf fertil eggs and hes different colors as well than you should be all set to hatch some.

Oh ok! During the summer, I never have my hens the opportunity to sit on their eggs. I'm not gonna do that this year.

This is my first winter with my flock. They loved free ranging in summer. The space with so many roosters helps the fighting and a bigger house an run helps as well i feel. I have a 40×40pen for them and a good size house but im as well going to make a bigger house mines to long and not as wide as i want it. But if you plan to incubate or change your mind an have your eggs hatch their eggs than id get a couple more hens of different colors and than you should definitely be able to get different colored birds.

I've never incubated eggs. I'm too afraid to incubate the eggs that are being laid. I've never had chickens before these.

If you want to get a few more hens, I'd suggest getting ten. Get 7 or 8 egg layers, or whatever breed you like. Wyandottes and EEs are colorful and fun. Then, get 2 or 3 broody breeds like Dorkings, Orpingtons, Silkies (but many consider those "special needs"), or even a few muscovy duck hens. They will brood those eggs for ya :)

I'll have to wait for summer I guess. I won't be able to take care of chicks until then. I saw a bunch of chickens on YouTube that are gorgeous!! But they're from places like Sweden and France, etc..
