Roosters??

Putting a non barred male over barred females yields sex linked chicks....any with a head dot at hatch (indicates barring present) is male and will feather out barred, females dont get the barring gene in those crossings so no dot and no barred feathering
My close friend has put a barnevielder too and Brahma Roo over barred rock hens and got pullets with barring??

Ya its not genetically possible.
Barring is sex linked so males have two spots for the gene and get a gene from each parent. They can get a barred gene or a non barred gene. In the case of your cross and your friends cross as you described they would get a non barred gene from their father and a barred gene from their mother. It only takes one copy to show so males are barred.
Females only have one spot for the gene. They get their gene from their father and pass theirs to their sons. Since their fathers weren't barred they don't get the gene and are not barred. The only way a female can be barred is if their father carried the gene.
