The reason that I insist on having a rooster, is that I want the eggs that I eat to contain chorionic gonadotropin, which makes the egg healthier then the anemic eggs bought from a store. I feed my chickens a healthy diet, and don't use any chemicals around my property that would reduce the purity of flavor and health benefits of each egg. I control complaints regarding crowing by keeping my flock inside of their chicken house until an hour of the morning that this wouldn't bother my neighbors. By the time I open up the door and let Mr. Wonderful out into the sunshine, the neighbors have left for their day and when the first crow of the morning doesn't get an answer from another rooster, there really isn't any more to crow about anyway.
