Roosters

My husband and I are new to the chickens. We have 3 hens now started as babies and got a bantom rooster from a friend. He at the time may have been a month old. My question is are all roosters agressive? We had an unexpected emergency had to go out of state. Well the rooster got to my 3 week old silkies and killed them. When we bought the silkies we also got a polish top hat who has turned out to be a rooster. So do I have to worry about him being the same way if we introduce new chickens? Right now he is 3 to 4 weeks and I felt so bad he was alone and bought another silkie for him and they are doing well but I'm worried when he gets bigger he might turn out that way or do you think the problem is how my bantom rooster was breed?

Not all roosters are aggressive. It depends somewhat on the breed (some are more naturally calm and gentle) and on the individual rooster (there are always exceptions in any breed). Golden Polish are not usually considered an aggressive breed, but the most aggressive rooster I ever had was a Golden Polish rooster named Ivan. He would attack anyone or anything that was in the coop with him except me. Interestingly enough, he never attacked or tried to spur me, but everyone else was an immediate target. Sadly, I had to cull Ivan out of the flock. You just can't keep a rooster that is that aggressive (sounds like yours is similar), and you certainly don't want to breed that kind of aggression into your flock.

Getting rid of the aggressive one is a good idea, only time will tell to see if the polish is going to be aggressive and if he is then culling him to is a good idea. Agressiveness is genetic and gets passed on and there are plenty of other roosters out there who are docile and gentle and that need a good home.
