Roosting bar placement?

Continuing with my coop build and I'm starting to think about placing the roost bars. My coop will be 8' long and 6' wide. I currently have 6 chicks 2 rir, 2 marans and 2 austolorps. I want to get a few easter Eggers as well. So maybe 10 birds total. Would my idea for roost placement be ok or should I move them? I'm planning on using 2x4's. Thanks for the help.

There's nothing inherently wrong with that design -- though you might want to mount the roosts in such a way that you can easily lift them out to get deep into the coop for cleaning, etc.

I *personally* prefer an L shape, but that's just because I'd rather be able to walk in and reach everything than lift out removable roosts.

Would something like this be ok as well? I'm thinking 24" up off the ground and the nesting boxes will be 6' away on the other end of the coop and up about 18" off the ground.

Corner roosts appeal to the human sense of aesthetics and efficiency but are quite unsuited to chickens' needs because the sections of the roost that are less than a foot from the wall are useless to them. :)

Makes sence. I will just stick with my first plan and it shouldn't be to bad to clean under them. I have seen people talking about poop boards. What are your thoughts?

I've done both of your ideas which worked just fine but now I'm going with "L" . Agree with all of the input and additionally, I got really tired of poop walls. So my L is far enough away from the wall that I don't have to deal and if do, I've now covered the wall with Corrugated Galvanized panels instead of wood, I'll have an easier time cleaning it.....

Do you have a pic of this "L" roost.
