Roosting Issue

That upper roost is not quite long enough for them all.
Was just chatting with @Mrs. K about angled roosts.

We have several roosts and one with a poop board about 4.5 feet high. We built a ladder for them and it is so stinking cute watching them go up and down. Our astralorps are big girls and I was worried about them getting up but there they go..single file up the ladder at night and down in the morning!

Goodness, mine like roosts much higher than 2 feet. I do have a bench that they can get up on, then fly up to the roost. I have not measured, but mine are nearly 4 feet high in the summer, a little lower in the winter. Need to be higher than nests.

2x aart These BOs are alot larger than the ones I've had in the past ... 4 used to fit & once I had 5 Wyandottes up there. Will have Hubby remove the roost/poop board & make it longer. He thought of moving the nest & stand to the center back, roosts to the sides but they probably want one above the nest. So probably remove everything ...

Lower the nest stand & lengthening the roost/poop board. This Chicken House was completed & in operation since Jan 2016, every year we've made changes Someday we'll be done. It's a very simple "design" but every year we're "improving"
