Roosting outside of coop

My soon to be 8 week old hens have chosen to rost on 6’ high pole in run , not coop , I guess this is okay, as run is safe?

Their parents usually train them on this by hopping up onto their roost and calling them, but my guess is that you don't want to do it that way.

You can train them to their roost by just going in and placing them there. Sometimes they catch on right away, and sometimes it's a couple of weeks.

It's fine if you feel the run provides adequate protection for them.
