The run is still pretty boring for my chicks, so am trying to think of what to introduce to make it a bit more interesting. I am going to add some stumps of different lengths. I also found this piece of limb/branch lying around yesterday, I stripped the bark as it it was damp and have sawn off any nobbles - the fattest part at top is a little over 2 inches wide - I was going to have my husband screw to one of the sides - do you think this piece is usable/would work?

That looks like a good roost. Just don't be disappointed if they don't go on it right away. It takes my chickens several months before they go on anything new that I put in the run.

I built a little thing to put out in my run, it looks like a picnic table but they like to stand on it and eat from it!

they like it if I put scratch on it or some kind of treat also! If it rains sometimes they use it as a shelter or if its hot or sunny they use it for shade by going under it! Also, if the run is big enough, try putting some peck toys or activities they can do out there. Sometimes i will make a lettuce/apple chain they can pick at and make a cabbage tether ball for them!

The branch you found looks good. We put a piece of bamboo and our bigger chicks like roosting on it. We also have a pallet leaned up against the outside of the coop and they like to hang out behind that as well. Good to give them a variety of surfaces to roost on/hide behind or under!:)

That's a neat little table, I may have my husband make up something like this sometime. I like the cabbage tether ball idea too.

Thanks! We have attached it in there today, along with a couple of tree stumps. We do have a pallet, I will have to decide how we are going to use it in there.
