rose comb buff orpington rooster/UPDATE PICTURES!

It's a starting point. Why do people not like the rose combs? I think they look regal on orpingtons, and both straight AND rose combs were breeds of original orpingtons. Not to mention, they are advantageous for colder climates.

It's not a question of like or not like. In the American Standard Orpingtons are single-combed only. There would be little point in trying to develop rose-combed Orpingtons if you plan to show them in the US. If you don't are about showing then breed them with any comb you want.

Well, ya, I wouldn't breed for non apa if I were to show them haha...I find it funny an original type isn't recognized tho. Anyway, I am thinking of having a separate pen of Rose Comb Blacks, I kind of like them.

alright, well i was in need of a rooster for my buff orps so i picked one up, well.. it has a rose comb and i was wondering if that means its mixed or something?? i searched but couldnt find anything about buff orps having a rose comb! and also when i hatch out buffs will they more than likely have rose combs??? stupid question im sure but i love stupid questions! lol
I have heard Buff Orpingtons CAN have rose combs. Though its not usual. So can Rhode Island Reds. This too is not typical. so they both can have rose combs and still be pure breeds.

Now I could be wrong, but so far, having seen the products of my varied flock, it seems to me that a flat or really any comb structure/ shape, that is Not a single comb, is dominant over the single comb. So my guess is you will have Rose comb Orpington chicks. More frost resistant! YAY!

alright well here are the pics! this kinda makes me mad because lol i traded a pair of nice silkies for HIM!

also this site says they have either rose or single?? so hm..?? lol http://www.omlet.co.uk/breeds/breeds.php?breed_type=Chickens&breed=Orpington
